Tell us about yourself.
My name is Larry Sangiorgio. For the last 15 years, I’ve been practicing law and working as a Realtor.
As far as my retirement account goes, I was relatively happy until recently. The market has kind of gotten a little different for me. So in recent years, I’ve not been nearly as satisfied as I had been previous to that.
What was the reason you decided to establish a self directed retirement account?
The reason I decided to start a solo 401k plan is because my retirement account was starting to look a little anemic and I wanted to have some alternatives that I was comfortable with. Stock market frightens me a little bit. I thought real estate was a better place to put my money in and I really couldn’t do that in the absence of a self-directed IRA or solo 401(k), so that was my reason.
What was your experience working with Sense Financial?
Working with Sense Financial has been a great experience. Whenever I call, I get a call back immediately, if they’re not there at that moment and they answer every question I have. They make me feel comfortable and with my retirement account, it’s important that I feel comfortable. It’s an important element of my life.
What attracted you in a self directed retirement account?
The main benefit to me of a self-directed IRA or solo 401k is the ability to guide my own ship. I like the idea of being in control of where my money goes and not having to rely on somebody else to make those decisions for me.
Having a checkbook control allows me to react immediately. I don’t need to wait for a bank to send me money. I can make the decision today and actually be in escrow today if I need to be.
At this point, I’m using the funds in my solo 401k for purchase of real estate. I’m also investigating other alternatives such as hard money lending.
Would you recommend Sense Financial?
I’m very cautious about who I recommend to my clients and my friends and unless I feel comfortable myself, I don’t recommend people. But I’m so comfortable with Sense Financial that I’ve actually invited them to my office to talk to my colleagues. I larry about solo 401k plan.
